PRITE

This the special needs school we ave been visiting for the last three or four years. These children all range from birth through about five years. This is an early intervention program. It took us a while to find it. They had been forced to move since the last time we were here. We drove round and round over increasingly rutted roads. We called the office. They called the school. We stopped and asked directions. Finally up this dirt street toward our bus trudged the director of the school with her assistant. They had come to find us.

We spent the next couple of hours playing with the kids. Most of them were very shy at first, but progressed with alactrity. We laughed and played and I held more that my share of teeny tiny almost brand new babies.

Mothers of special needs children have plenty to handle in the more “advantaged” countries, but here those special burdens come on top just trying to survive and put food on the table.

Note to self: Quit yer griping!”
